LABOUR
LINK
When people join UNISON they are asked if they
wish to pay into either the General Political Fund (GPF), the
Affiliated Political Fund (APF), both or neither. Their contributions
to the fund they choose are then deducted from their normal subscriptions
payments - so you don't pay anything extra, you simply choose
how your money is spent.
Contributions to the APF help to facilitate our
lobbying within the Labour Party. This enables UNISON to push
members' views and argue the UNISON case on policies and practices,
which will improve working terms and conditions, help protect
public services and create a better society. It's the opposite
of a blank cheque for Labour. UNISON keeps up the pressure and
use its valuable links to get UNISON's agenda heard.
The APF fund has been given a new more up to
date name. It is now called the 'LABOUR LINK'.
RCT Branch is active in promoting the policies of
UNISON and the interests of UNISON members at both National and
Local levels within the Labour Party.
If you pay into the APF levy why not come along
to the monthly branch Labour Link meetings, and get involved and
have a say in Labour Party organisation, party elections and policy
making. If you are interested in coming to the meetings and
having a say, contact Ron Everleigh the Branch Labour Link Officer
on 01443 682036.
Also if at present you pay into the GPF fund and
would like to change it to the APF contact Ron and come along
to the meetings, You never Know you may enjoy it!!!!!
