TRAINING
If you are thinking of becoming active within
UNISON, you will get extensive support and training from the branch.
If UNISON is to be a dynamic and effective organization
at all levels it is essential that we all participate in Education
and Training. On top of this, legislation passed in 1999, the
Employment Relations Act, puts an obligation on unions to ensure
that representatives have attended specific training in order
to represent members in grievance and disciplinary cases.
For a full list of dates of courses available both
at branch and regional level, visit our 'What's
On' page.
The courses employ student centred learning methods
and group discussions - there are no tests!
As far as possible we ensure good disabled access.
Crèche facilities are available on request. Refreshments
and lunch are provided. The branch will apply for time off with
pay from the Authority on your behalf.
Applications for ALL courses should be made via
the Branch Education Co-ordinator. When applying for courses please
submit your application one month before the date of the course.
This will ensure that we are able to apply for facility time on
your behalf. Applications are available from the branch office.
